Lush Life, Thanksgiving-style
This recipe comes from “Rum Diary,” Elisabeth Garber-Paul’s weekly Lush Life cocktail column for Real Eats. Today it’s Pilgrim-themed, just in time for Turkey Day. Feeling festive? We are! Why not whip up a hot-buttered rum and get your holiday started right.
This drink is made of butter batter, which can be made in bulk and kept in the fridge, with rum and hot water.
For the Butter Batter:

1 stick of butter, softened

1 cup packed brown sugar

½ cup sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

½ tsp ground nutmeg

½ tsp ground cloves
Mash all ingredients together and refrigerate until needed.
For the Hot Buttered Rum:

3 tbsp. Butter Batter

2 ounces Rum
-
hot water
-
1 pat butter, for garnish
Put the rum and batter in a mug, and mix. Slowly add hot water until the mixture smoothes out and mug is filled. Garnish with the butter pat, and enjoy.
